TOA's Column Line Arrays
TOA has just released the SRS4 series of compact column line arrays. The compact SR-S Series slim line array models include the SR-S4L (long-throw) and the SR-S4S (short-throw) speakers, each with eight 4” cone drivers and twenty-four 1” balanced dome tweeters, all aligned to form a continuous linear sound source. The series also includes weather resistant models and multiple mounting hardware options.
Ideal for problem environments where a long throw is required along with the need to avoid reflective surfaces, such as Churches, Auditoriums and Lecture Halls, the SRS4 speakers will provide a constant volume over any large area.

Why are there so many different microphones?
Different microphones are designed for different jobs. In addition to this there may be different microphones for the same job. Microphones come in many variations, different Polar Patterns, different Sensitivity, different Frequency Response and differing Proximity Effects.
What are “polar patterns”?
The "polar pattern" of a microphone indicates its sensitivity to sounds arriving from different directions. Omnidirectional microphones "hear" equally well in all directions while all others prefer sound from one (unidirectional) or two (bidirectional) directions.
